Texel.play is a massive collaborative-multiplayer pixel canvas where users (players) use in-game currency to "buy" ownership of pixels, with a possibility to earn back more of said currency once another player re-buys the same pixel. The concept is loosely based on an unreleased Web3 game with the same idea.
In-game currency is backed by real (Fiat) money which necessitates that we take extra precautions including following the relevant legal regulations for each country we operate in. Read more in the FAQ and Risk Disclosure section.
No. The amount you paid has likely already been deposited into another user's account. Unless by their consent or coordination, this amount will remain there until another user buys those same pixels.
We work with WorldPay to minimize the risk of unauthorized bank charges, including stolen cards. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this service, we cannot issue refunds or cancellations on goods that have already been delivered and potentially circulated between our many players.
Slippage is the difference between the price estimate you are given when you decide to execute a transaction and the real price when the transaction actually occurs. Since transactions are generally fast, slippage is normally small (< 1%), however, we also provide tools to limit the impact of slippage, such as automatically aborting the transaction if the price raises more than a specified margin.

Transactions involving real money inherently carry risk, including but not limited to loss of funds, delays, errors, reversals, technical failures, or actions by third parties (such as payment processors, banks, or networks). While we take reasonable measures to maintain the security and reliability of the Service, we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from all risk.
You acknowledge that:
We do not act as a bank, deposit-taking institution, or fiduciary. Funds held or processed via the Service are not insured or guaranteed by any government deposit protection scheme.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses arising from user error (e.g, "fat finger" error), unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your credentials, actions of third-party providers, or market, network, or system conditions beyond our reasonable control.

TL;DR, We aim to provide the service "as-is", that is, as the user, you bear the full legal and financial responsibility of your own actions, such as losses or fraud. We do not offer any service, permissions, or guarantees beyond what we are required by applicable law, or expressly stated in this Terms of service. This summary is not a substitute for the whole Terms of service, and we strongly recommend that you read it in its entirety before implicitly accepting it (by using our service).
The Service enables users to hold and transfer assets with real monetary backing. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for all actions taken through your account, including any financial decisions, transactions, or instructions you initiate. You must use the Service in a lawful, responsible, and prudent manner, and in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.
You agree not to use the Service in a way that is fraudulent, abusive, deceptive, or intended to exploit, manipulate, or circumvent the Service, its safeguards, or any third-party systems. Note that this policy does not authorize:
Compliance with this policy will generally safeguard you from legal action being taken against you.
By using the Service, you authorize us to act as your agent for the limited purpose of facilitating payments and related transactions. This authorization includes the right to debit and credit accounts, process payments, issue refunds, reverse or adjust transactions, place holds or reserves, and take any other actions reasonably necessary to provide the service, manage risk, prevent fraud, resolve disputes or chargebacks, and comply with applicable laws, regulations, or payment network rules. You acknowledge that for these purposes, certain actions may be taken without prior notice and that this authority survives account termination to the extent required to complete pending transactions or resolve disputes.
You are solely responsible for all chargebacks, reversals, disputes, refunds, fines, penalties, losses, and liabilities arising from or relating to transactions initiated through your account, regardless of the reason, including fraud, unauthorized use, customer dissatisfaction, or “friendly fraud.” We may, at any time and without prior notice, debit your account, apply available balances, place holds or reserves, delay or suspend payouts, or otherwise recover amounts necessary to cover such liabilities, including applicable chargeback or dispute fees imposed by payment processors or card networks. Decisions by payment networks, banks, or third-party processors regarding disputes or chargebacks are final and binding.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Texel.play, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) chargebacks, disputes, or reversals associated with your account; (b) your use of the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms, applicable laws, or payment network rules; or (d) any claims brought by third parties, including customers, banks, card networks, or regulators, arising from your transactions or conduct. This obligation survives account suspension or termination.
We may modify these Terms at any time to reflect changes to the Service, applicable laws, or our business practices. Updated Terms will be made available through the Service or by other reasonable means, and the “last updated” date will be revised accordingly. Unless otherwise required by law, changes become effective upon posting. Your continued access to or use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must immediately stop using the Service before the changes take effect.
We may also modify any other aspect of our service, including, but not limited to, fees, usage limits or the interface used to access the Service. Such modifications may be made at any time and may apply immediately. We have no obligation to continue offering any particular feature, functionality, pricing, or service level, and we are not liable for any impact such changes may have on your use of the Service, your business, or your customers. Continued use of the Service following any modification constitutes acceptance of the modified Service.
